Nothing less than a vocal booth can tame regular room noises such as :birds, pets, the fridge, HVAC, outside traffic, computers the list goes on. The reflextion filter works for taming down refections and that is it. For $500 you could build your own booth. I got pretty sick of my dog barking his little ass off and the UPS guy driving by and RRRRRRRRRRRR there goes my perfect acoustic take with vocals Arrg!!!!!!

As far as pre-made vocal booths they are premo mucho $$$$$ and it did not fit my budget.

I would take a look at some D.I.Y. vocal booth plans. I built my own booth, then I found these plans http://www.dawbox.com/DAWBOOTH.htm and built a better one for like $400 and the guy who sells these plans was awsome to deal with & had tons of experience in acoustics. Nothing beats isolation unless you have about $2000 to sheetblock an entire room and treat it with bass traps, owens 703 or acoustic foam.
