Music in Movies.
Some recent talk about Goblin and how their music works in Dario Argento's films got me to thinking about how important music is in movies. The score holds a picture together and there are many songs that have worked to make a specific scene notorious. Sometimes there is special meaning in the songs words. Other times it's about the energy. There are plenty of songs out that bring a scene to my mind when I hear them.
So I ask. Share some songs that helped make a scene peak. Scenes that were well done and were even better due to a song.
For instance, Tiny Dancer by Elton John will always remind me of the bus ride in Almost Famous. The song takes a group of road weary, angry musicians and reminds them of why they are out there. Rebonding them and bringing back the positive energy.
A couple personal favorites off the top of my head are Sister Christian (Night Ranger) Cranked up in the coke dealers house in Boogie Nights. In a scene with some serious paranoid energy, it brought out some well needed sick humor.
Where is my mind? by the Pixies sounded like a fitting end for Fight Club. A little joke on the dual personality issue.
I have plenty more. Lets hear some of yours!
