There is a legendary guitar tech from Athens Ohio named Dan Erlywine, he repairs, does set-ups, offers tips, has written books, etc. about guitar maintenance and all things six strings. He has made and repaired for the pros, including BB, Eric Clapton, and Dave Matthews. My friend had his guitar set up there and it was costly but it was much better than the day that he bought it new, "like butter". From what I understand the guy is the God of Guitar Repair. There is another dude named Neil Jacobs that is a 12 string performer specializing in Gypsy music. He has many old guitars that I have seen that have been repaired.
