South Union Arts is cool, though kind of in the middle of nowhere. My friend William Elliott Whitmore has played there a few times--it's a great venue for him because he does country/folk music that sounds like it was written during the Great Depression. I like seeing him there because there isn't a bunch of chatter like in a bar, plus the neon Jesus thing doesn't hurt matters. When I saw him there they switched on the Jesus right when his last song started, and it was a great effect.
