Just to give it a different spin there is a guy who creates actual cd's or recordings that he says are appealing to dogs to hear. Check out this NPR story:

In theory what he does is put some New-Agey music or electronica beats with words of gentle praise that appeal to dogs like "you're lovely a pup" or repeated use of the word "scratch my back woof, woof" seriously funny stuff to us but apparently dogs dig it...

i've actually heard about a satelite station that makes programming for pets left at home (dogs and cats). you leave it on when you go, and they don't freak out and pee on the rug; presumably. i guess if the jingle cats thing works (and it has, i've heard a meowing silent night amongst other songs). who buys those albums though???!!!
