As a dude that's been screaming his death metal head off for about 15 years, all I can say is just practice practice practice, and it will come. You can always try to one-up yourself. If you have a scream in a song that goes for 4 bars, at practice tell yourself "I'm gonna hold it for 8 bars this time". If you normally a part in a higher register of death-style vocals, try it low. That way you get practice doing the low style, and it's ready to burn for when you need it. And of course the other way around with the high/low death style thing. Of course, you can just focus on one or the other if you & another guy in your band happen to be Jeff Walker & Bill Steer from Carcass, in which case one person will have the perfect voice for high style and one will have the perfect voice for low style. Man those guys are great.
Most importantly, do not forgot to thrash.
Metal is law, thrash to it daily.
