yea, i appreciate drummers who have a good grasp of the variation of dynamics. too loud all the time or not loud enough all the time isnt drumming, its just hitting things with sticks. drumming is the ability to be simultaneously loud on some drums/cymbals, and medium, and also soft on other drums/cymbals. when i dont hear any variation in dynamics, it sounds like a machine playing a sequenced beat, lacking...
