Hmm. . . Well one thing that popped into my mind is that you shouldn't plug or unplug a condensor mic while there is phantom power on at the preamp. All condensors need phantom power. The phantom power usually is used to charged the element and if you plug or unplug it while phantom power is on it will see a sudden DC burst which causes a sudden change of capacitance between the diaphram and the back plate. This can sometimes strech out or damage the diaphram.

Since this is a USB mic and may have some extra bits I don't know about you probably should call Samson about this problem. Unfortunately customer service for these companies may be out a little while for the holidays. there should be a number in the documentation of the mic.
