Shadow and Koala would be my first two examples as well. Vinyl survives simply because I won't let it die. So many other people feel the same way, and basically that's how it is. It's not dying.

In regards to the actual questions, my stance is pretty simple. The technics will never do you wrong. But, I need more than 8% pitch, even 10 or 12 really.

The Numark TTX have treated me well since I bought them in 05. With the switchable bays for the fader, having them set up battle style is perfect. The gauge even switches. It's a four magnet dd motor, rather then two. Torque is great, 50% pitch, blah blah blah.

Vestax PDX are also incredible. The ultra fine pitch adjustment is amazing, and the decks are just as solid.

Wouldn't touch Gemini.

As far as cd decks go, I have spun on all of them, and I simply do not enjoy the interface nor the sound. The feel is terrible. Now granted, output is output. If you're rockin, you're rockin'. Hence the deejays rocking ableton live nowadays. But I just don't understand why you wouldn't want to watch a 12" rotate and feel like you're interracting with the music.

And maybe cds don't skip, but my needles don't skip either. Take care of your equipment, and this shouldn't even be an argument considered in the debate.
