Default old(er) Gibson needs repair(s)

Sup Guys,

I have a guitar that I absolutely love. Now it needs some fret work and a few things here and there. The problem is I have no idea who to take it to and I'm really scared of just dropping it off anywhere.

I live in O-town, FL so if anyone has recommendations please post!

There's also a Guitar Center near here...could I trust GC ?

I'd say away from GC in terms of repair stuff. Some 19 year old "rocker" might pop a zit on it after they "setup" your guitar. I'd recommend talking to other guitarists in your area and finding out where they go, or going to other guitar shops and seeing where those people take their instruments.

yeah for sure, take the time to find "a guy" It's like having a good mechanic or a good babysitter or something. Ask around or find a specialty shop where all the guys play guitar and see where they send thier stuff too.

Yea, referrals are always the best. Bad news travels fast, and a crappy shop will have a bad rep. If you trust your friend, and they have played for a while, they probably know of a good place to check out. Don't judge by price alone; if the place charges an arm and a leg for something, that still doesn't mean they know what they are doing - quality work doesn't necessarily have to be at a premium price. I have a friend that does a great set-up for a 6-pack.
