I think they have a valid point. Digital downloads or videos are pretty impersonal in that you miss some kind of physical connection to an artist. I think the internet has started to make indie artists stars and have sold out shows because lots of kids want to see in person what they miss through their cpus.

Two ways to get kids at shows would be to a) do webcasts, so if you live in Padunk, GA you can still see your favorite noise band b) use internet promotion to promote concerts which actually provide more money to the bands performing than through record sales.
