Great. Now we'll have even more jerks walking around, wearing a t-shirt bearing the logo of a club that they've never seen or been to. To that I say:

booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo o.

aside from the fact that it should be considered a historical monument......i wonder, does ny even have many clubs for smaller acts to perform in? when they got rid of firside and bottom lounge (which they vowed to replace somewhere downtown, but they haven't; no plans to either) in chicago, it made it that much more difficult for smaller acts that don't have a 21+ following, and haven't been signed to have a place to play. not to mention, all ages shows are more scarce in the city now.

Fireside has shows Fridays and Saturdays. http://www.myspace.com/thefiresidebowl
And I believe that the Logan Square Auditorium replaced the Bottom Lounge

NY has a billion small clubs to play in. Pianos, Arlene's Grocery, whatever the hell of that little place in Williamsburg is... they're not hurtin for places to play, believe me.

yea, but fireside barely ever promotes; most people don't even know that it still is a venue (i did know, i've been to a handfull of shows since they made it a full-time bowling alley), and no one comes. i never heard that about logan square being a bottom lounge replacement; i just knew that beat kitchen took over the majority of the bookings that would have gone to both it and fireside. the point still remains that there aren't many small places for all-ages shows in the city; and the way metro books, we'll be lucky that anyone that isn't a buzz band plays to an audiance under 18 years old. the youth keep music vital, we have to cater to them more than we do now.
