Here's an eye-opening (and somewhat scary) article on ototoxic substances--basically drugs and chemicals (some of which you probably have in your house right now) that can damage your ears and permanently degrade your hearing. If you take aspirin or ibuprofen regularly you will want to read this:

it's suprising how many people (musicians and engineers espically) forget to, or refuse to wear earplugs to concerts. hearing does not come back, it degrades over time.....like master shake says.
