Default Corprate Gigs

Great way to make a living. Of course with all gigs they come and go. Its hard to find security in these gigs. I have had many expierences in many different groups. I wanted to post what works and what doesnt to try and help others. What works: Private corprate gigs are always profitable. you can get these throughout the year but their most concentrated during the holidays for office partys and lunchins. Also check out ER's. Thats right hospitals! They have a very large budget and usually the person who is in charge of the event is too busy to deal with a lot of resopnsibility so you can book that quick and easy. You can get these gigs yourself or through an entertainment company. Private clubs are another great way of making a living. These are a lot more consistant but dont pay as well. I was always suprised how little these gigs paid an hour but you usually get perks like other gigs, dinner, drinks and option to mingle amongst the high class. Unless your a great businessman/ woman I dont suggest getting into the booking aspects of music. I prefer to deal with a third party when it comes to booking. You are less likely to taken advantage of plus your not directly getting preassured by the clubowner to fill seats. Using a third party also makes you look even more professional and clubowners tend to take the act more seriously. Always work under contract. I cant stress this enough. Remember to include all the information you can in your contracts like everything from how many outlets you need to what you want for lunch. Last but not leist, dont gig for Clearchannel unless you have a well-written contract!!! this is very important!!! the last time I was taken advantage of by them I was left at the Tweeter Center in the afternoon with nothing to eat! all the vendors were closed until the gates opened and I almost starved to death. Did clearchannel care? nope. did they tell me that food was unavayable? nope. was this in the contract? nope. but it will be the next time!

Yea...corporate gigs can really be a bummer or great. In my scenario it was great. We got paid more than we make in a month playing out and you got free food and everyone wants to talk to you. hahah. we played a party for a gaming software company that released Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude. It was a lot of fun. Free food, condoms, lubricants, entertainment (strippers in cages) huge professional stage and sound system, oh yea we got paid a lot! hahah. I would play them all the time if possible. It's not sellin' out...it's making a living...besides, you're playing music and people are enjoying it. hi oh.

Did I forget to mention that Ron Jeremy was in the audience. haha
