anyone have any gig rituals? or anything to help relax the anxiety of playing show, but get energized and focused for playing as well?
i used to be in a band where we would go out behind the club and do chest bumps before each show... looked pretty ridiculous, but when we were tired or burnt out, it helped... |

I hadn't played a show in 4 years up until last winter. I'd told everyone about the show. I did my soundcheck and went home before our set. I got back to Double Door (where the show was) about 20 minutes before we were to go on and saw that ALL of my friends were there. I walked in and just wanted to hide. It wasn't that I wasn't ready for the show, it was that I wasn't ready to see everyone, not to mention being nervous as HELL. My friend Darren took me aside, tried to calm me down and bought me a shot of Jamesons. I popped that thing down and it loosened me up perfectly. If I'm ever nervous before a set, that will calm me down.
