Has anybody played at the Viper Room? Is it a place for washed ups?

Been through there a couple of times but never played it. It's a really small place but it still gets notoriety. it's constantly packed, so that's one good thing. the only problem is it's filled with out of towners who are more impressed that they're standing in what used to be river phoenix's vomit, rather than watching whatever band is onstage.
go play the troubadour. |

does johnny depp still even own that place, or is it under new management since he moved to france? a friend of mine went there on vacation a while ago and saw ron jeremy and eddie van halen at the bar (but not together), so maybe it's as much a tourist trap as it is a hangout for "celebrities".

I agree with Gear Junkie. It does have a big tourist vibe even down to door and drink prices. The other thing is anyone well known is out of site in the VIP room to protect stars from the common people. I haven't played there so I don't know how they pay. I'm sure it would be an interesting gig............................. "FOR ME TO POOP ON!"
