egos breed with egos to create monolithic "super groups;" are there any that can overcome the cheese factor and self-indulgence to become actually worth listening to? who are your favorites and why?

how about a few that were created from the remnants of real good groups would be:
ELP - Emerson from the Nice, Lake from King Crimson, and Palmer I believe from Lucky something Fairport Convention - I believe had a couple of great folkies like Bert Jansch, Richard Thompson and John Martyn Yardbirds - the near ending one with Beck, Page and Keith Relf Harmonia - 70s era group with Brian Eno, Cluster, and drummer from Neu! the Move- Roy Wood, Tal Bachman I believe, and Jeff Lynne making orch-pop pre-ELO |

Fantomas: Mike Patton (every band ever) on vocals, Dave Lombardo (Slayer) on drums, Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) on bass, and King Buzzo (The Melvins) on guitar.
4 people that know how to get nasty as hell and still pay attention to detail. |

i think the new pornographers are consistenly matched album for album with other non-super groups. dan bejar, neko case, carl newman, john collins, and fisher rose make great pop music together!

For me it would be Bad Company. Too bad it didn't last. Same with Cream. Shame they didn't get along.
Supernova! Ha. Just kidding. |
