This ALL ORIGINAL 100% complete 1976 Gibson Grabber has not seen the light of day for the last 25 years.
I purchased the guitar in 1981 when I played in a local high school garage band in the Chicago area. I ended up being shipped out to military school 6 months later with the coolest guitar a high school kid could have being relegated to the back of my closet. I have held onto the guitar all these years thinking “some day”. Well someday never came and I think this guitar needs to be played rather than collect dust in my closet. This guitar is 31 years old but has only been played by me for 6 months back in 1981 and presumably for 4 years by its original owner. This is one of the best Grabbers you will ever see. The front of the guitars wood is pristine and the back is not scratched but there are some pressure marks on the wood from belt buckles. I have seen these go for anywhere from $400-US up to $950-US depending on condition. I was wondering what you think it is worth. I have pictures poted at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MESE:IT&ih=017 yes it is Ebay but I am a tool when it comes to technology so this is the best I can do |

looks like you did pretty good there. Sometimes these can go for waaaaay less, which is strange considering how much they rule.

Actually my bass player just bought one of these but he won't tell me how much he paid for it. He never does...
We were calling him Mike the night he got it because supposedly it's the bass Mike Dirnt played on Green Day's quintessential Dookie. "Play Longview Mike, come'on, play it Mike!" |

Did you hear about Mike Dirnt suing that kid that destroyed his prized P-bass? When they let this kid play with them during a show, he got so cough up in the moment that he just broke it to pieces. But before the security guards could react, it was too late. Too bad he didn't have his grabber; the kid would never have been able to lift it! |

I saw them years ago and they asked kids to come on stage and play. I thought it was great at the time, I had never seen anyone do that. I mean, I've heard the story about Keith Moon passing out on horse tranqs and a fan stepping in for the rest of the set. But not a band finding replacement members in the audience purposefully. What do you think about Dirnt suing that kid? What about fans coming on stage and playing? Should that kid be blamed for freaking out? |

Yea, my friend Bob (the guy that showed me how to play a bit) was brought up on stage for their 97 tour, and rocked Operation Ivy's Knowledge with them. He was the envy of our entire High school the next day. According to Green Day, he was the best person that they pulled up on the entire tour; Bob WAS an amazing guitarist; one of the best and youngest I've ever seen. |

We played with this high school, possibly middle school band, called the Morons. Their parents came to the show with Olive Garden doggy bags in tow. The guitarist was maybe four feet tall and when he sang or spoke into the mic you could tell he hadn't reached that point in every man's life when they realize: "My armpits smell, bad." They were the awesomest. And they didn't even smash my Bass...
