Is it a Hagstrom? Kahler is the only bass tremolo I can think of. To me it looks a little Frakenstein'd.

Great pic. I believe that is a tenor guitar. Gibson made them up until the seventies I believe. Whether or not this was a production model or a custom job is beyond me. Looks like an awesome instrument though.

gibson made them til the 70's. hers is a '67 that she bought at elderly's (i just read an interview with her about this guitar like 2 or 3 months ago).

Sure is a tenor guitar. I saw her use the same one at the Metro in Chicago a couple years back. Man, can she sing. And she's a great lyricist:
He led you to this hiding place His lightening threats spun silver tongues The red bells beckon you to ride A handprint on the driver's side It looks a lot like engine oil and tastes like being poor and small And Popsicles in the summer That's just the first verse to "Deep Red Bells," props to Neko Case. |
