Aren't they actually "Duncan Designed"? From what I understand that's code for "cheap pickup masquerading a good pickup due to the name".

so duncan designed is to seymour duncan as squier is to fender? i guess they were put in the right bass then! if that is true, i stand by my previous remark of swapping.

I'm thinking of getting one actually. I hear the fretless is a particularly good bass. If I'll get one I'm going for the fretted Jazz though.
Recently 'forgot' my $3000 custom built 5 string at a gig. Turned out another band took the gigbag by mistake, while I thought one of my bandmates loaded it in the van already. Found out the next morning this wasn't the case. I don't really think I'd like to have a shock like that again, so having a cheap but decent bass to tour with would be a great solution.
That and I just prefer to play 4 string actually
