I want to buy a kick ass bass cabinet for the studio. That way I can either use my own head or a player can bring their own and not have to lug their 8x10 but they can still pump some waves out to record.
I'm looking for something fairly neutral that will allow the head to shine through and also be able to handle different impedance loads and wattages. |

Sorry, I don't know of anything new that does this. A lot of old sunn cabs are selectable impedence.

This is the only thing I can think of, the only thing is, it's for guitar, not bass.
http://www.theairtightgarage.com/pro...products_id=42 it's a great idea though. |

So anyway, I'm thinking I would like the sound of a 10" and a 15". If I get, say, two single speaker cabs by eden or swr (a 1x10 and 1x15) would I I be that far off from being able to accomadate most heads? Do either of these brands strike you as being fairly neutral? |

there's a cab by SWR called the Triad. It's a 1x15, 1x10 and 1x6 in one cabinet with two tweeters.

I'd say start a collection of random cabs with different sounds, sizes and impedances for the studio. |

then having just the two cabs is good cause you get the differnt impedances by using different combinations. I'd say you could handle any head since you don't usually go crazy with bass volume in the studio. wired in series you can get 16 ohms if needed, parallel 4, one single cab would be 8.

you should check out genz benz' bass cabs. they have very versatile input connections, sound great, and are well-constructed too. the downside? they tend to be quite heavy, but built like a tank.
