Yeah, "Active Snare Damping" sounds like something that's easily DIY. A small bag of sand tied to the rim of the snare seems like it would work just as well. What is STICKY HAND? (Or do we want to know?)

Do you mean the sticky hand you get from the little vending machines at Osco. HAHAHAHA!! That's rich.

Thumbs up

Those sticky hands are freakin sweet, I never thought of that. They pretty much do the exact same thing as moon gels, except for cheaper. Great idea, i figure one of those machines is more than likely closer than a music store, and with a moon gel you cannot slap your singer in the face with out getting up from the throne. Freakin sweet

the "tone control" rings, or "deadringers" do well, especially for toms and if you like to remove all of your snare's overtones. Aquarian and Remo make them; though some of them are thinner than others so as with all things you have to experiment.

additional options might be Moongel or a band aid with a small piece of cotton underneath. also, Evans makes a great dampener that is minimal.

for the longest time I just used paper towels and masking tape on the inside of the head. worked okay..but it was rather unscientific and trashy looking.

i was tought "the wallet trick" was mostly using your wallet to tune toms, anyone else use their wallet for that?
