Thumbs up

The B8s deffintely are not the worse. On a whole with the cymbal pack stuff, I'd say they are the best, with Paiste comin in second. The Zildian packs are soooo bad, I can't believe that a company that can make something as beutiful as K Darks, would put their name on something that bad.

I had an vintage pair of 15" Italin hihats, and when a crack appeared I literally started to cry. But never fear, I got them for $250 with a pearl export previously used at some gospel church, my first kit awww. Later I found out the hats were worth $500 , they were and still are the best sounding hihats I have ever heard. For the music I currently play they are too thin, and are sitting in a dark case in a closet in the basement far far away. Of course untill the day when they are strictly used as the cherry studio hats.

I hear that the max zxt hi hats are decent, maybe I'll give them a shot. I'm also trying to figure out which hi hats are the ones with the holes in the bottom.

Cool

If your rich, go with the Zildjian K Custom Session Hi-Hats. Best I ever heard.

I really like the Zil, K-Z combo and A-Z combo...i'm a recent fan of Istanbul's ...their rides are incredible...but the hats have such a dark "good" trashy sound.

Anyone ever hear of zanchi hats? I think they are Italian or somthing but they sizzle like eggs and sound very unique. Great for jazz. the 12" are a little thin for my tastes but the 13" are just right

I prefer the classic Abe Lincoln Stovepipe hi hat. Though I believe the one worn by Slash in the G&R days was much higher! I hope this helps!!

I love my 15" Paiste 2002. They are loud and very dark sounding, mmmmm. Actually they have a pretty good dynamic range. I used to break all kinds of cymbals and hi-hats untill I got the 2002 series. I have been banging the crap out of those for almost 10 years now, and they still sound great.
