Hey, I'm new to the forum but have been surfing Gearwire since last summer. I picked up on the stompbox walkthrough videos. What I like about them is how you always "see whats inside the box"
It's just cool because i love getting a "fresh" new pedal and opening the box for the first time and taking it out myself. I totally peeve when someone else opens up MY box before I get a chance to i just think it's also cool for those that don't have a lot of experience and you explain it in a way as if you're the end user opening it up for the first time and learning it yourself. And of course, it's always good to hear what the pedal will sound like roughly if it's something you can't find at the local Guitar Center or Sam Ash, etc... Keep up the good work dude! ~Mikey T |

Thanks both of you for the kind words. It is interesting that you miss the part where I open the box and look at the contents. That was actually one of the biggest sources of criticism for the older videos. People just wanted to hear the pedal. Oh the irony.
How would you feel about having separate videos for "out of the box" and the audio demo? |

I dug a lot of the out the box part of the stompbox videos as well. Dunno why people wouldn't want to see that. You never know when you might get stickers, a poster or other cool swag stuck in there. Bring that part back!
It might be better as a separate vid for all completists out there to see. |

dan, how do YOU feel about the "open the box" segment? personally i'm in the "no open the box" camp. going through the pedals features briefly before setting it up is good, but personally... i've opened so many pedal boxes, i know what's inside of them. warranty card, manual, maybe some suggestion settings, i get it. i love the video demos as well... but i definately am watching them only to see the pedal in action. |

I disagree about a graphic screen - I love getting something new, seeing the packaging, how it will come from the store. Plus, I love the sound of the box being opened, the plastic or bubble wrapping, the paper being unfolded... all that stuff really makes it feel like I am opening a brand new item vicariously through the video. Just my 2 cents! But, I know you can't please everyone all the time, so I'll watch the videos opening boxes or not. I am a completist, so if there were seperate videos, I'd watch the opening-box ones.

Either way you go, it's cool, but I definately like the box part. It's part of being a "walkthrough" if you ask me. Quote:
That would be awesome if you did demos of the vintage stuff - that's really where my main interest lies. If you could do that it would be so cool.

I'd like to add, one day I watched mostly all the videos, one after the other, and for about an hour afterward my girlfriend walked around the apartment saying "outta the boxxx" ...so yeah, I miss that!
