Hi there, I am new to these forums,so sorry if this thread is in the wrong place. i am at a cross roads, i have always liked the american strat, especially the one in red with maple neck,
can't remember where i saw a video of that or get a Marshall 2246, and they are around the same price, but with the Marshall you need a cab and that is an extra £400, however at school we have many amps, one of them being a fantastic roland cube 60, and the people i play with have Fenders and Hiwatts, which i usually plug into. With the amp, one of the people i play with has a few 4x12 Marshall cabs which i could probably use. Thanks Phil |

That's a real tough call but I would say guitar just because I think it is more important to be used to your guitar then your amp. since you have some decent amps around that you can use I would say that the guitar is a pretty good choice.

I'm gonna disagree with dan. You can always mod a cheaper guitar with inexpensive parts (new pickups, new tuners) and make it sound like a million bucks through a sweet amp.
...Maybe this is why I own 13 amps. |

Ii think it depends on what guitar and amp your playing right now, that way, it would be easier to understand where the upgrade is more necessary.

You can always play your guitar and sound like you on any amp. A guitar all the way.

I have an RG2550E and a Yamaha GA10
I would get the amp but to make it worthwhile, i would need an extra £400 for a cab |

I gotta go with guitar. You don't touch an amp and get used to it when you play it... a guitar is yours and yours alone. I'm not sayin amps aren't important, but I'd certainly rather perform with someone else's amp than someone else's guitar
It's like buying a car or a garage... kinda. |

This is a very "Lady or the Tiger" situation. I'd tend to say amp because a good amp can make a less-than ideal guitar sound much better; but a good guitar will encourage you to keep playing (with or without the amp). I'm going with the guitar. You can always buy a small practice amp for what you would pay in shipping of an amp (those smokey amps being a prime example).

Im courious to know why you want a new guitar? is it that you just want another, do you dislike the Ibanez? If its just some guitar GAS then get the amp barrow a cab an save again for the Fender
Just my 2 cents. |
