Check it out it's coming out on all platforms PS3, XBOX 360 and the Wii! They're still using Gibson LP-style guitars, and a Kramer metal body style one for the PS2. Unleash your Mii with your inner Dio; new songs there: Paint It Black (by The Rolling Stones) Cherub Rock (by Smashing Pumpkins) Sabotage (by Beastie Boys) The Metal (by Tenacious D) My Name is Jonas (by Weezer) Knights of Cydonia (by Muse) Rock And Roll All Nite (as made famous by Kiss) School’s Out (as made famous by Alice Cooper) Slow Ride (as made famous by Foghat) Cult of Personality (by Living Colour) Barracuda (as made famous by Heart) |

"Delivering more master tracks than ever before, strategic partnerships have been secured with all the major and independent music record labels and publishers to allow unrivaled access to their deep history of music catalogs, along with supplying artists’ original recordings for even greater authenticity."
Of course, they're making godzillions of dollars, why wouldn't they have "strategic partnerships"? On the other hand, they are for the first time having the original artists songs on the game, no more terrible Cobain or Danzig impressions. Honestly I'm excited to play "Cult of Personality." But when will you be able to play your own song on the game? Oh wait, people don't need to play instruments anymore because we have video games and computers to do it for us. Or does this game increase interest in guitar/guitar playing? Hmmm... Anyways, this wireless thing is kind of cool, may cause problems: "Also all new games will have the option for a wireless guitar." I see children jumping on the furniture and breaking things. Doesn't say if its only for the Wii platform or for all of them. How could you do it with the other platforms (XBox, PS3, etc)? Do they have infrared already? |

Wow, great! I hope this inspires kids to pick up the real thing. I know Guitar Hero for 360 came out recently with some exclusive tracks, and an explorer-style guitar. The other versions had a track by Deathklok as a hidden track. I wonder if the different versions this time around will have tracks that only they can open? |

Sounds really cool. I think it would get more kids interested in playing guitar. Can't really be a bad thing.

I think it's pretty cool to have it go wireless. I do believe they're adding with the online option a way to download pedals and amp sims. Plus you can play rhythm parts such as rhythm guitar and bass if you do multiplayer which is pretty neat imo. There have been people hacking the controller to use it with computer programs to compose their own songs. Anything that lets you play Slow Ride without having to go up in doobie smoke, rocks. |

Oh man! I didn't even notice they added Weezer (old Weezer; none of the post-green album fluff) to their artist roster, that's awesome. I hadn't heard of people hacking this game, but i wish more games would inspire this sort of creativity. If kids get involved in these types of activities (hacking, moding, warranty voiding), maybe some strange and esoteric technology will come from their minds as a result! Who knows! |

Y don't people spent a bit more money and get real guitars?

There's an opensource PC version of the game totally free called Frets of Fire that has a really cool (although terribly hard to use... meh.. its free) Level editing feature, so you can load in your own bands songs and make tracks for them. There's a couple of DIY guitar hero controller hacks that make them USB compatible laying around the the internet. The controller thing might be a little much, but making guitar hero like tracks to your own songs is super satisfying. They have to be in .ogg format and it works best if you have a backing track and a seperate guitar track so when you mess up it can mute only the guitar track.
I didn't even notice Muse was on there.. that owns. |
