Default What's the best Strat knockoff?

What's the best Stratocaster knock-off?

It can go two ways:
(1) What's the cheapest knock-off that you would be willing to play? (e.g. Behringer V-Tone)
(2) What's the best strat-type guitar? Dare I say, the best Stratocaster may not be made by Fender...! (Or chime in if you think it is)

My first guitar was a Memphis, Strat knock-off. Still the best cheap Strat style guitar I've played.

A friend of mine has a tiny little Memphis with one single coil. I think it is a 3/4 size. I don't know anything about those besides they're cheap and awesome.

Default sound wise

sound wise... hands down, my Variax 300, has a lot of good strat sounds, it emulates a strat fairly well, although it doesnt look much like a strat i am duly impressed, if i do say so myself (variax detractors, insert curse rebuffs now...)

hands down

G & L i believe they share some ancestry with Fender, but their headstocks are often nasty.

G & L is Leo Fender's line of guitars that he started with George Fullerton (hence, G&L). They're made in the old Fender factory in Fullerton, California. I think after Leo died he sold the company to some other big name company, but it wasn't Fender. But yeah, their guitars are awesome. The split single coil is the single greatest invention in pickups in the last 10 years.

I have an old Harmony strat that was a hand-me-down from my old band mate. That guitar has been thru some stuff and still sounds decent. That was more than ten years ago. I still use that crazy thing.
