Default What gear do you love, even though it's not cool

Not all gear is in "vogue", talked about, loved - and yet maybe it works for you.

Mesa Boogie, rare Les Pauls, and expensive 70s pedals are cool to love - and maybe for good reasons.

But - do you have gear you love even though it isn't "cool" to love it?

Like Pabst Blue Ribbon before it was cool to love it again... (maybe that's Old Milwaukee)

I love my Japanese Stratocaster. I also love my many plug-ins and soft-synths. Did I mention I have like 500.

My main guitar is a big red, pointy Ibanez Destroyer II. A reissue is out now, but mine is from '82. Every time I take it to a gig that's not a rock/metal gig, I always get "oh great what the hell is this guy doing". But when they hear what comes out of it, they forget it's a thrash machine. I get tones for every style out of it, and I doubt another guitar could ever win my heart like this one!

Cool My Amp Head

My Mesa Boogie Mark IV head is absolutely one of the finest heads made for lead guitar. It also has a killer clean tone to boot. It might not be a "cool" as a Triple-Rectifier (or as I like to call it "Rectum Fryer"), but it definitely sounds a lot better.

I love my Casio keyboard and my Tascam 8-track cassette. Of course everytime I use the 8-track I remember why I hate it too.

I have a 50 watt tube guitar amp--which could be cool, but it's a Crate. And it has a big 15" speaker. I like how it sounds. Totally sparkle-free, but real warm.

Oh my little 3/4 size Alvarez guitar, You make me so happy.. You stayed the same size as I transformed into a large goon. And you loved me all the while.
