Hi guys...Could you please tell me if this is normal. Today, while playing my electric, i opened my room's door. When i touched the handle ( steel ), i nearly shocked myself to death ( while my right hand was on the strings )....lol
Any ideas? tia Last edited by Robin Hood; 07-15-2007 at 03:30 AM. |

I've had this happen while playing guitar and singing at the same time. Lips touch mic and 'Zap'. You end up grounding out somehow. You might want to check out the powerstrip or outlet and see if you have a 3 prong ground properly connected to the wall. Or your amp might have a ground lift switch. 2 possibilities.

They sell a little gizmo at HomeDepot that you plug inot the wall to see if it's grounded. Buy one, it's ten bucks. It'll save you the pain in the future. As stated earlier, that's most likely caused by lack of a ground in the outlet you're plugged in to. It can be a dangerous situation. My former bass player zapped himself to holy hell at a show once.
