You should consider buying Graphite "String Saver" saddles for your guitar. They help prevent string breakage like 90% of the time. All my guitars have em' and I hardly ever break a string anymore, and that's with a hell of a lot of bending.

woops i shoulda cleared up my own statement. i meant that I actually want to break those strings since their tone is actually pretty crappy to my ears. i just have so many packs of those strings that id feel bad not using them up or something. unless i can find a way to ship them to some poor kid in Africa who cant afford electric strings im stuck with them.

I actually get a #2 pencil and color in the saddle where my strings rest, leaving a layer of graphite. This is the poormans version of string saver.

I apparently have oils on my hands that are more corrosive than the average bear. So, my choices are all about durability. D'addario on the electric light top heavy bottom (.010s ) since they're sealed, they seem to last longer. Heavier strings on bottom keep that low E tight (this is why SRV's low E sounds so nice, even when he smacks it. he played w/ THICK strings)

On my acoustic, Elixir. I tried em once, and haven't used anything on it since. The days of having great new strings for a grand total of a few hours are over. I've had strings feel new, and (most importantly) sound new on that guitar for around 6 months. The only reason I changed strings was because a string broke. Sucks I can't just buy the one broken string though, at 12$ + a set.

On my set neck Les Paul-type guitars, DR Hi-Beam 10-52s. On my strat and super-strat, I've been using D'Addario 10-46s but I'm gonna switch to DRs for those. DR strings sound great.

I use D'Addarrio 10s.

I bought D'Addarrio because when I first picked up a guitar, I saw that the sponcered Belly. That's my favorite band and the reason I picked up a guitar in the 1st place (no making fun of me).

As for why I play 10s. I use Jazz III picks and I kept breaking strings at shows. I'd have to swap out guitars ever show. I could never do a show with just one guitar. I like to rock out and am pretty heavy handed when I play.
