I think as far as fuzz pedals go I would be just fine with spending 40 bucks on a Russian big muff. Play it, throw it around, stomp on it, spill beer on it. I can't really envision myself spending a ton on an expensive pedal for distortion.

I have a new found obsession with that old school UNIVOX superfuzz pedal that Pete Townsend used back in the seventies. Man, oh man...sounds like the way to go for me. Has anyone else used that pedal?

You know what I have, this weird old Bosstone fuzz made by either Jordan or Sho sound I dunno, but it plugs right into your guitar, doesn't sit on the floor.

Frantone The Sweet:
Holy freakin god. This thing out-Big-Muff's the big muff. The soundclips on frantone's site are lame, but this thing sounds like a big muff with a larger frequency range for the tone, and a gain boost. I used to use an MXR dist + before my big muff to boost it over the top and get instant sustainable feedback. this does it for me. ![]() This is a terrible quality picture, but it's to the top right of the orange Ibanez PH-9. I can't say enough good things about this. |
