Wow, that wasn't my experience with the JCM2000s at all. Which ones are you referring to--the DSLs or the TSLs? I had the TSL601 combo for a while, and it had boatloads of gain if you needed it, but I found cranking the gain on the clean channel made for a good moderately dirty tone, and I didn't have any problem getting tones between super clean and super chugga-chugga.
Of course, I did get rid of it because I didn't like the latency in switching, I found the clean tone really dull when using humbucking pickups, and the higher gain settings (like anything past 3 on the lead channel) were too harsh and grainy. All hail its successor in my pantheon of amps, the Rivera M100! |

yea, i'm not totally satisfied with the clean channel on the fallen angel 60 head (but i did get a good deal on it). i'm thinking of selling that and buying a fender 65 super reverb reissue....but i'm just thinking about it. and maybe either using the genz benz 2x12 as an extension cab for extra bottom, or selling that and getting a zinky 1x12 instead (because it will be easier to carry, and zinky makes an outstanding cab).
