Default martin acoustics

for acoustic guitars, i have found martin strings to be the best quality, very durable, nice tone, tunability, real real good strings...

I once heard a -rumor- that all raw strings are manufactured from the same source. Thus not much else is different then the packaging (minus the elixers etc..)

ie, same strings, different companies.

Sounds kind of like all the new cheap microphones that are mostly made in the same factory, then finished and branded by different companies.

That sounds like some tinfoil hat conspiracy theory to me. I don't buy it; I definitely can tell differences in the way different brands of strings age on my guitars.

Remember the Simpsons where the Duff, Duff Light, and Duff Dry were all coming from the same pipe?
