Ive been playing with this for a few days now, I really like it. the amps are all open sounding just as if they were mic'd. The effects are clean and simple to use, and the tone generally seems more realistic than Guitar Rig 2, and others. Anyone else try this and have any thoughts or comparisons to other similar products?

ive tried the WAVES gold package in the recent past, OMG these are the best plug ins ihave ever used, hands down the best. they do eat up your processing power pretty fiercely, but shouldnt be a problem if you have plenty of memory installed on your computer. The effects are dynamite incredible delays, choruses, flangers, phasers... also some of the other guitar effects mimic bells, and chimes, and other not so "easy to find" tones typically used for guitar recording. great plugins!

Im wondering if you can just use your own sound card, im pretty sure you should be able to, and not have to use their interface in order to use their GTR plugs. Im pretty sure most of us would have better AD converters and inputs in some of the soundcards than their own interface would have. |

i do not have their hardware.. it seems to work flawlessly with the firebox ive been using. I guess the hardware isnt proprietary

there is a demo version of it found here: http://www.waves.com/content.asp?id=1696 but it uses that stupid iLok key. You must have one before you can demo it first. Arturia did something similar with their recent Prophet VST but at least they gave you a way to buy a 10 dollar ilok key and get your money refunded if you decide not to buy the VST. |

Waves is a great software company though. They delayed the release of this stuff like two years because it wasn't right yet. I haven't tried these plugs but I lie there other stuf and their methodology much more than other modelling companies. |

stupid iloks.... this software is great, there is no software comparison in sound quality, and it certainly beats any of the line6 or vox hardware modeling. guitar rig 2 has more functionality and features, but the Waves really has it beat with realistic high quality amp and effect sounds
