Does anybody on here own any instruments with a floating bridge? My friend had his glued on at third coast and I just kind of cringed when I heard that.

My Ibanez RG560 has a floating bridge. The whammy system works really well but man is that thing ever a pain in the ass to tune up. Also, one of the fine tuner screws on the bridge was lost by a previous owner and replaced with one with a lot less travel on the threads, so I'm constantly running out of adjustment room on it. I need to fix that one of these days.
Oh, and let's not even talking about adjusting intonation on it. I'm not really surprised that when I took it to Chicago Music Exchange to set up they did a kind of a crappy job on the intonation. |

Ahahahahaha I don't believe it, that's even the exact same finish that I have! It's definitely the ugliest guitar that I own, but it plays great, and how else am I supposed to do badass divebombs?

My Prs had a floating brige. I encountered the tuning probs but they were not that bad. What I didnt like was that if I broke a string the whole guitar is out of tune. I could not have that. So I dropped the bridge to the body. Now when i bust a string i can still carry the song in tune til the end. I should also note a major improvment in sustain and tone

![]() Gnarly! This totally rules. Now I present the world with a quest..... Jackson had an ad with Marty Friedman (Megadeth) for the Jackson Kelly. It ran in the early-mid 90's, in Guitar For The Practicing Musician and other such guitar mags. It's him shredding on a slightly-tipped couch, and the caption was "GET MORE ACTION FROM YOUR JACKSON". I've been looking for it forever, for inside joke from years past reasons. If you can find it I'll buy you a soda. It's not much of a reward but I'm a broke jerk who can't find it to save his life. |

You totally rule!
All this time I've been thinking it was an ad for the guitar, forgetting that it was actually for Blue Steel strings, doh! In case anybody's wondering why the big deal...A friend of mine had the EXACT same couch, lamp, shirt, and guitar. We propped the couch up, struck the pose, and took pics of us copying the ad verbatim. We've been laughing about it, and looking for the ad again, for about 10 years. Smopo24, you doth rocketh (and Bacchus and whatforth). |
