My friend has one and I've used it. I like it, but he won't give/sell it to me. We're convinced that the unit has some random qualities to it - it doesn't sound the same everytime you use it. My experience is that it gave my guitar a metalic sound and accentuated certain harmonic points. It doesn't sound like a other ring modulators. It's a sweet toy.

I would imagine unless they have some built-in dynamic envelope that changes the effect based on your pick technique, it could just be a one-trick pony effect. That may not be bad but if its a ring mod it might get old pretty quick.

I have to say I'm not a big fan of ring modulation. I think it is best used as a plug in with automated parameters. I think it is best used when it acts as a really dirty crossfade between the dry signal and the modulating frequency, which I also will automate. Otherwise, straight up ring modulation, as dolivas said, can get old fast.
