Was the Tele before or after the Les Paul? The story usually goes that the Tele was the first electric guitar, but it just may have been the first commercially produced electric guitar.

the first electric guitar was the rickenbacker frying pan in 1933. the first gibson guitar was the ES-150 in 1936.

Fender broadcaster came out in 1950 (later changed to the telecaster).
LP came out in 52.

As far as I know I think the broadcaster was the first cutaway guitar. I may be wrong on that. What I do know is that it was before the LP.
