Default Epiphone Blues Custom

Now I know which amp I'm saving cash for, there's a huge pic at Epiphone's site: http://www.epiphone.com/press/P_BluesCustom1rev.jpg

It seems like it's along the same lineage as their Valve Jr amps. If that's the case this would be a beast for recording. Emminence speakers equipped and a nice selection of tubes. Very good price as well.

the thing that's driving me nuts about that amp was the tubes. I've heard conflicting reports that it's a 30 watt amp thaat comes with either two EL34s or four EL84s, but I haven't heard an official tally of what it is.

yea, from what i read it has;

Features:
Dual class operation: A or AB (15/30W)

2x12 Lady Luck Eminence speakers

Dual EQ modes -- Independent/Interactive

5 x 12AX7 preamp tubes

2 x 5881 power tubes

5AR4 tube rectifier

have you heard anything bout those speakers? also, does the amount or kind of tubes determine how many watts a tube amp is? i always wondered that...

The amount of tubes doesn't have anything to do with how many watts the amp is, just the clarity/tone of the sound it puts out.

spring reverb, or their ultra-crappy dsp? i tried a triggerman the other day, and the reverb sounded like digital barf.

Other features include selectable independent or interactive EQ mode, all tube signal path, tube powered transformer driven spring reverb, tube rectifier,

there's no DSP in this badboy at all. interesting. maybe i need another amp (note to self: no you dont).

I'm not going to say that's totally wrong... But you're totally wrong. The OT Can't push out the max' power of any given valve, It just won't happen. ( Let me find my tube sheet. ) The 5881's ( The power valves inthe blues custom ) Can push a max of 18 wats in class A, And max of 22 or so in AB. ( I'm not exact. ) And each tube as previously stated effects the tone with EXTREME results. Not just tube types, But brands as well. ( My favorite EL84 being a EIelite, But my favorite EL34 is an Electro Harmonix. ) Another thing to remember on this is that the Circut has a major impact on how the Powertube distorts and flavors the tone. ( Example: A fender that uses EL34's and a Marshall that uses EL34's sound COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ) Preamps is a totally different story, One I don't need to get into.
