Default Anyone try these Fender cleaner products?

I just got the mist & wipe and the fretboard Conditioner Fender products

I used the mist and wipe without a problem but am hesitant about the fretboard product as it does not say whats in it.

I know theres products out there that contain chemicals in them that will dry the wood out over time but i'm not sure if its in this fender fretboard product.

I emailed Fender and that was last month, still no response.

does anyone know if this fretboard product is safe to use?

Thanks,
Dave

Well I gave them a try. The mist product works really well and cleans the guitar without a problem. The fretboard cleaner seemed to work best out of both.

After taking the strings off to change them for this month I used the fretboard cleaner on my "PRS SE EG"

I got so much dirt off of this 8month old guitar fretboard that I need to get another cleaning cloth or clean this one before doing it again in 8 months or so...

The rag was yellow but now its lots of black mostly from dirt and oils that built up over the time. Great product.

I still dont know if it will dry out the wood over time but I dont use it often and will probably get another guitar before anything bad happens...if it even does.

Hey Dave,

I noticed that you mentioned that you took the strings off. I here that you should leave 3-4 strings on at all times because the loss of tension can adversly affect the neck.

yea I read up on it and heard people go both ways on it...I didn't see any changes at all in the neck and really couldn't care much to tell ya the truth as its a cheap guitar but next time ill keep the two high strings on as well as the low E

what really convinced me to do it this way was in this book

http://www.amazon.com/Make-Your-Elec...e=UTF8&s=books

i picked that up and read though it and tuned up the guitar to the point where it's better than when it came out of the store the day i got it.

ill find the text part in the book saying that its ok to take the strings off in his opinion later in the day...i have to find it first

well, for cleaning your actually body and pick-guard, just use a mixture of 1/4th vinegar to 3/4ths water. Works great, doesn't hurt the paint job or anything like that, might smell for a minute or two, but It goes away real quick. As for fret cleaner, I just whip It with a rag,, I don't see much point In buying cleaner for It, just a waste of cash...

i believe your right that's a good way to go, just make sure you use white vinegar other shades or flavors of vinegar might give you a different tint or not be as good for cleaning.

I just use finger ease over the intire guitar, It works for me. ( And the smell is... somehow... Great... ) You can over do it, Though. On my Urythane finish it turns into a miniature KY match untill I wipe it all away.
