Default Music in Movies.

Some recent talk about Goblin and how their music works in Dario Argento's films got me to thinking about how important music is in movies. The score holds a picture together and there are many songs that have worked to make a specific scene notorious. Sometimes there is special meaning in the songs words. Other times it's about the energy. There are plenty of songs out that bring a scene to my mind when I hear them.
So I ask. Share some songs that helped make a scene peak. Scenes that were well done and were even better due to a song.

For instance, Tiny Dancer by Elton John will always remind me of the bus ride in Almost Famous. The song takes a group of road weary, angry musicians and reminds them of why they are out there. Rebonding them and bringing back the positive energy.
A couple personal favorites off the top of my head are Sister Christian (Night Ranger) Cranked up in the coke dealers house in Boogie Nights. In a scene with some serious paranoid energy, it brought out some well needed sick humor.
Where is my mind? by the Pixies sounded like a fitting end for Fight Club. A little joke on the dual personality issue.
I have plenty more. Lets hear some of yours!

perfect day by lou reed in trainspotting; that song will forever be linked with that scene in my mind(and sadly with a superbowl commercial a few years ago.......now that was just terrible). and i think the greatest one (and part of my musical awakening) was the infamous bohemian rhapsody scene in wayne's world. i fell in love with music with that song.

for me it would be Spinal Tap performing Stonehenge. that scene and the music totally encapsulated the greatness, outrageousness, and inherit ironic hilarity of that which we call rock music.

"I do not, for one, think that the problem was that the
band was down. I think that the problem may have been...
that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was
in danger of being crushed by a dwarf. Alright? "

truer words have yet to be spoken...

Tom Jones singing "With These Hands" in Edward Scissorhands completely rules. But then, it IS Tom Jones.

The scene in "The Royal Tennenbaum's" with Nico's "Fairest of the Season's" comes to mind when I think about music working really well with a scene. Also the "musical" scene in "Delicatessen" was very good.

Travolta strutting down the sidewalk in Saturday Night Fever while Stayin' Alive is playing sets the pace. It gives you a feel for his attitude and brings energy from the start. You can feel that you are in the presence of a dancin' fool!

Picking up on the Tenenbaums-type movies: Rushmore and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind both used music really well. And the bossa nova-ish Bowie covers in the The Life Aquatic were fantastic.

Easily the worst use of music in a motion picutre in the last 10 years was Titanic.

The 3rd Matrix movie's soundtrack/score/whatever you want to call it was 666% poop. Way more poop than Titanic (never saw the flick but the score is ok).
