Default Do left-handers die young?

I always think bands look cool when there is a lefty guitar or bass, but I'd be reluctant to let my child (not that I have one) start out playing lefty. It just seems to limit your instrument selection. And left handed drummers always bugged the crap out of me. So I was thinking about it and came across this:

I'm left-handed so hopefully that's not the case!! The only instrument I play right handed though is the guitar. Everything else lefty.

Default lefty here...

yea, i'm a lefty too, it was a dilemma when i went to buy my 1st guitar 10 million years ago, so we went with a right handed guitar, and it's worked good for me. i've debated this b4, but, think about it; if you are playing "right-handed" guitar, the left hand is doing all the fret work, and the right hand is just strumming and picking, so if ya ask me for my opinion, i think it's all backwards, hehe meaning; i think i AM playing left handed guitar! let the debate begin...

i also play drums left handed...

That's what I thought too. I kind of wish I was left handed. Maybe I should switch! The bass player in Sass Dragons plays a right handed bass which someone put a stap peg on upside down so they could play it left handed. I was stung backwards too... but he restrung it righty-style. So he learned how to play lefty... but upside down!
I started thinking again. WHat about lefty piano players? Nobody cares about them?

Thumbs up

Hmmmmm, quite a few members of the infamous 27 club I believe were left handed players. Jimi Hendrix , Kurt Cobain, Joseph Merrick (The Elephant man), and Robert Johnson who was not left handed but I bet he could play that way.

this picture is of Brain Jones (Rolling stones)a 27er, as well as the Jimi in 69' the year jones died and the year after jimi died.

Coincidence? maybe.

just to run with that lefty thing. i myself when I play piano or keys tend to lean on my right hand for the melodies and arpeggios etc. and the left for the bass and chords which would be counterintuitive if a lefty would play the piano backwards. maybe its all about the way your brain is situated. the left side of the brain is a anchor and the right side would be the caravel sailing with the wind.

yea, good point... i was talking with another piano player about this exact point, and we were wondering if they ever designed a flip piano ie; (i gues you could re-string the piano, but imagine it this way...) if they cut the keyboard in half, so to speak, and put the lower bass keys on the right side, and the higher note keys to the left, it would be quite a radical idea, i never seen them... anybody?
