Default Looping Samples

I usually end up getting a sample to loop by tapping tempo in my daw over and over until it matches the beat. This can be kinda painstaking to say the least. Does anybody have a quick and easy method or tricks?

I don't know exactly what you're asking, but to get loops going in protools I select the region I want to loop, hit option-r, and dial in the number of repeats. Then apple-i to identify beat, which syncs up the midi to the start and end points of the regions/loops.

Generally i go in an trim the waveform until it fits, then just copy and paste. It takes up a lot of room though.

Protools:
you want to use grid mode right? here: trim up the sample so that it is looping right. slide it to the beginning of the session. click the little conductor guy and grab the slider on the transport. make sure youre in grid mode and slide around until you get the beats/bars to line up with the amount of beats/bars you want your region to take up. Does this make sense?

I guess a better way to phrase this question is "How do you get your samples to loop? What program do you use and what tricks do you have up your sleeve?"

Thumbs up

I record the sample onto my handy MPC and then I hit the "Dope" key.
