Default velocity sensitive pads vs. keyboards

I haven't owned one yet but I think I'd rather input the majority of what I do by a pad like trigger finger or something else mpc-like. Does anybody here use midi controllers other than keyboards? I have a feeling like once I do get a set of MIDI pads I might just sell my USB keyboard.

velocity-sensitive pads are cool, but i've never needed them because the keyboard i used for midi-production tracks was weighted.

I dig those pads just because sometimes you want to be able to be playing a bass line or melody line with one hand and them tap out the rhythm with the pads. It does get kinda confusing if you're having to split the keyboard in two or do those separately when you lay down a track you just want to get through right off the bat. They just seem very practical for controlling virtual drum machines or trigger samples/one-shots.

i use a midi drum controller (roland octapad) although it would be more helpful to use if you were a drummer, you can use them like bongos, in a sense, slapping or tapping notes with your fingers or hands...
