Hey man!!! Live... it's incredible.

I spin records too, and I love them both as artforms. However with Ableton, I don't have to worry about mixing and can just dream up ways to effect the music. Either way, it's a joy to play with.

There is a big thought on whether or not taking the difficulty of mixing making it an easier way to dj. However, it allows for SO much. I dig it. MORE OF I!!!

I myself use Ableton Live as my DAW. It's a very intuitive digital recording irregardless of what you can do on the sampling/looping side. It's very easy to set up MIDI devices and bus stuff compared to old-skool ProTools DAWs. If you're on a Mac it supports AU plugs and building presets "effects racks" which makes it real neat for live use. Plus if you want to sketch out a demo using the column view where you can throw a bunch of samples out there which makes it cool for just improvising.

I don't even use it for much electronic music. I do mostly acoustic or folky kind of music on it.

Agreed. All sorts of stuff can be done in this little gem. If that's not enough, check out the ableton site. It's got incredible vids, the forum is full of information and mods for the program. Someone even figured out how to make Live a slave to INCOMING AUDIO?!?! Wild.

Plus, the program was designed as a daw, not at all for djing. However, it's won the idma award how many times for best software? Like seven. Go team Ableton!
