Default Prophet 600 problems

My roomate just got one of these and it's older than I am. I know prophets can be rather hard to wrap your mind around (the software version is even a bit like a small child). But this one has some weird problems. None of the knobs seem to do anything, even the volume. The switches definitely change the sound but even when I have both oscillators off it will sometimes make sound. Also certain keys will not trigger a note. The keys that don't trigger keep on changing in a pattern that I can't figure out. The computerized tuning and presets work fine. Well, any ideas would be much appreciated.

You've got some bad CEM chips in there. Usually they're socketed, so you can just swap them out without disassembling the whole thing. But be prepared to shell out some $$$. I had one bad voice chip on my Sequential Circuits, and it set me back $40 for the IC alone.

Thanks puffpastry.

I've had a chance to mess with it some more and it appears that only one of the voices is down. How much did fixing this cost you total?

Also I've figured out that all the switches work but not any of the knobs. The volume is stuck really low so I can't record with tons of noise. I was told a cleaning might help this. Anybody else?
