Does anybody know if Perrey ever got paid by Smashmouth for their shameless lifting a few years ago? Smashmouth lifted the main riff (and identical instrumentation) from a Perrey-Kingsley song on the P-K album "The In Sound From Way Out" as the intro for the Smashmouth big hit "Walking On The Sun."
By comparison, a few months ago when Coldplay lifted the melody line from Krafterk's "Computer Love", they agreed to give Ralf and Florian some nickels ahead of time...but Jean-Jaques doesnt have the profile that Krafwterk has... Anyway...Perrey rules -r |

i know people were onto it a while back......but i'm sure that they had to give him something; it was so obvious. yea, flaming lipps had to give cat stevens a huge chunk of change for ripping off one of his songs a few years ago. they never had the ok, but proceeded to release the song anyways and paid the price (cough)bittersweet symphony(cough). |
