Default Novation ReMOTE SL woes

Anyone else having trouble with their ReMOTE SL controllers? It appears a lot of the templates don't work, or only have the most basic stuff like filter cutoff/resonance mapped--the rest do nothing at all. A few do work great--for example, the Korg Legacy synths, Novation's own synths, but the rest are having lots of problems. I tried the Sonar template and it doesn't do a damn thing. Any tips from those of you that went through the same thing?

hmm that's odd. Have you read the manual where it mentions templates, does it state that on certain programs you have to do some kind of basic setup first before the templates are recognized by the program? I have an Axiom which has a template program called Enigma but sometimes you need to mess with preferences to make some templates work with certain softsynths/programs.

Yeah, that was the problem--some templates needed special files to be installed into the synths themselves, and Sonar requires a bit of setup work. After that, they mostly worked. I'm not too impressed with some of the templates though--they don't do a whole lot. On the other hand, some templates were great.

I wish Novation had automapping for Sonar though, or just synths in general. It's a pain in the ass to change templates all the time.

I would definitely take a look into Sonar 6. Upgrades are usually very reasonable. There is a new feature that will be in both the producer and studio edition called ACT (Active Controller Technology). There will not be preloaded templates but it is supposed to allow extremely easy mapping (you click on a parameter and turn a knob and it will be mapped) and it will automatically save your mappings across all projects.

BTW, we will have more info early next week on the new features of S6. Stay tuned.
