I couldn't resist a few more favorites.
Wonderwall- Oasis, done by Mike Flowers Pop Orchestra
Rainy Days and Mondays- The Carpenters, done by Cracker
Easy-The Commodores, done by Faith No More
Head On-Jesus and Mary Chain, done by The Pixies
Asshole-Beck, done by Tom Petty
These are all cool versions. Great performances or interesting takes on the songs.

Ryan Adams did a great cover of Wonderwall too actually. He's completely obnoxious, but that cover's great. Oh also.... wait... who was it? Some girl singer did Wonderwall too.

Cat Power. That's who it was. Someone just told me. That was a cool version too.

OH! I forgot. In like 97 I saw Ben Folds Five where they did a cover of Iron Man live. It ended with Ben picking up and throwing his piano bench at the piano. That was great.

muse did the greatest cover of house of the rising son that i've ever heard. the drum sounds on that track were amazing! some of the best drums i've ever heard. smoking popes did a cover of jack wagner's all i need. the origional was pure cheese (of course, what do you get when a star of general hospital has a singing career?.....not to mention that the writer is santan himself- glen ballard; he has no soul, i swear), but the popes cover (good luck finding it) is awesome; a poppy, melodic take on an 80's song best forgotten.

I wanna do an album that covers all the songs from the original Wonka movie and call it "Slugworth"

Oh yeah, and Captain Jazz did a great cover of Aha's "Take on Me"

Hey dagosto. If you decide to work on the Wonka covers I want in.
3 more good covers Sly and the Family Stone cover Que, Serra,Serra-by Doris Day
Cake Cover Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps also by Doris Day.
Chili Peppers Cover If You Want Me To Stay by Sly and The Family.

Devo's cover of Satisfaction, Scott Walker's cover of Jacques Brel's My Death, Hendrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower, Doves' reworking of the King Crimson Moonlight song into the M62 song, Blood, Sweat and Tears cover of Tim Buckley's Morning Glory, Led Zeppelin's blatant robbing of Spirit's Taurus for Stairway to Heaven, J.J. Cale's cover of After Midnight for every song he did on every album he put out after that song...

SP doing DM was good, but not as good as the original. It's got it's own thing. Depeche Mode is a force to be reckoned with. Still, Failure doing "Enjoy The Silence" is one of the best covers i've ever heard.
