Funny how being suspended from the ceiling crossed his mind before the thought of a rotating speaker. I wonder where his mind was during those sessions

it was actually geoff emmerick's idea and it was apparently a raging pain in the ass to doctor up the leslie to take the input from the mic.

This reminds me this past weekend I watched Let it Be the documentary and it was pretty neat seeing again how the Beatles worked together (or sometimes not so together) when they record. They seemed to use a lot of SM57s on their vocals or some variant of it and were using Fender amps almost exclusively. Neumanns on the pianos and the overheads. Real neat video. Shame they broke up after those sessions.

I've got a copy of Let it Be and always found it amusing that they were always missing accessories like mic clips. Funny part is they always managed with some gaffer tape.
I noticed they would often use 2 mics taped together when they were singing. I always wondered if they were using both for recording or if 1 was for the documentary and the other for the vocal. Hmmmm.

Rob W. actually had a chance to talk with Geoff Emmerick at AES in San Fran. Video is coming soon.

He mentions the Leslie thing

you're right! i did notice that. I think they might have done it for sheer volume or blending vocals. Just real cool how they recorded together. Does anyone know what were the big long pole mics they have they look like the one Bob Barker uses on the Price is Right?

You can make one with a presentation pointer and a lav. Too bad you have to go back to the 70s to get a presentation pointer.

You could tape it onto the end of a baton.
