Sonic Youth gives Superstar by the Carpenters a whole new vibe. Great song.
Cornflake Girl - Tori Amos was covered by Jawbox? "I think". Any way it's really great. As cool as the Bjork "Army of Me" cover.
Oh yea. Radiohead doing "Nobody does it Better" Carly Simon song. I've heard it live and it rocks.

Default Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Prince shredding at the Harrison Induction

This is technically a cover song, maybe not the best ever, but for those of you haven't seen/heard this I had to bring it to light. Wow. Whoever thinks Prince doesn't rule the world can think again. Check it.

Remember the half-time show at this year's Super Bowl? It was more exciting than the Bears poor offensive performance. The symbol man always with that Tele in tow.

And what's the deal with Minnesota and purple?

I'll second the Prince thumb's up. Ever see Purple Rain? When he is playing Computer Blue he does a solo that is all out crazy fast and enjoyable, sorta like Eddie Van Halen does it but with pizzaz rather than just wanking like VH does.

Prince's Hohner Tele owns.

The top 3 that come to mind:

Failure- Enjoy The Silence (Depeche Mode)
Deftones- Ordinary World (Sade)
(Professor Riffs gave me this a while ago and I haven't been able to get away from it)
The Darkness- Street Spirit (Radiohead)

There's about a billion on this list (Buckley's "Hallelujha" obviously included), I'm just interested to see what you say.
Elliot Smith doing Cat Stevens "Trouble"; it's just so applicable.

"Cat Stevens - Trouble Lyrics

Trouble
Oh trouble set me free
I have seen your face
And it's too much too much for me

Trouble
Oh trouble can't you see
You're eating my heart away
And there's nothing much left of me

I've drunk your wine
You have made your world mine
So won't you be fair
So won't you be fair

I don't want no more of you
So won't you be kind to me
Just let me go where
I'll have to go there

Trouble
Oh trouble move away
I have seen your face
and it's too much for me today

Trouble
Oh trouble can't you see
You have made me a wreck
Now won't you leave me in my misery

I've seen your eyes
and I can see death's disguise
Hangin' on me
Hangin' on me

I'm beat, I'm torn
Shattered and tossed and worn
Too shocking to see
Too shocking to see

Trouble
Oh trouble move from me
I have paid my debt
Now won't you leave me in my misery

Trouble
Oh trouble please be kind
I don't want no fight
And I haven't got a lot of time "
